Location and How to Reach Chandrashila Peak
Chandrashila Peak is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, nestled in the majestic Garhwal Himalayas. The trek begins from Chopta—a serene hill station that is well connected by road to popular cities like Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun.

The nearest railway stations are Haridwar and Rishikesh, while the closest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. From any of these points, you can easily hire a cab or take a shared taxi to reach Chopta. The road journey to Chopta takes you through lush forests, charming villages, and scenic mountain curves.
Once in Chopta, the trek begins with a 3.5 km climb to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The final 1.5 km stretch from Tungnath to Chandrashila is steeper but well-marked and stone-paved, making it suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers.
